Fantasmas
Fantasmas come in very different shapes and forms. Their common trait however is their need to feed of soul. Some decide to work for a deity, protecting them and in turn get some of their soul in return. Some Fantasmas want more power though, and start to hunt deities. Those are the ones that the guards often fight against, to protect their deities from harm.
KoumainuA spirit that is born from Fear. They take the form of living stone creatures, oftentimes adorned with precious gems, gold or silver scales. They are fierce and loyal, and while their magic levels are fairly low - they can't even change form into a human one - they have an incredible amount of strength and make for very good guardians. They also do not need a lot of soul from their deities, which makes it the most common choice for a guardian.
When they bond with a deity, they create a Fooling. |

TanooksTanooks take their form from the fear of death. Thus, their main indulgence in life is to celebrate it, to live it without any worries and just enjoy the times of being alive. That is the reason why very seldom a Tanook will decide to protect a deity or even befriend one, for they are born from pure lifeforce, and attract the evils in the world. But if they do connect, then they make for a very powerful guardian, for their form can take any shape they like. It is said that the first Tanook actually managed to take on the form of the deity of life - the Geist. But Tanooks nowadays can't accomplush feats like that anymore, but their form reportoire does range from the smallest insects to mighty dragons or creatures of nightmares.
